lol..Chancroid.

Chancroid is a sexually transmitted bacterial infection that is caused by the 'chain forming' bacteria Haemophilus ducreyi, that can be spread as soon as sexual contact has taken place. The disease is rare, but not unknown in the western world, such as Canada, whereas cases in developing countries are much more common. Men are at a higher risk of receiving the disease than women, particularly uncircumcised men.

The symptoms of Chancroid usually appear 4-7 days after receiving the infectious bacteria from a partner. The first symptoms usually appear as small bumps, or sores on the skin of the genitalia affected, which will progress into uclers, usually within a day or so of their appearance. If not treated, these spots will grow, and eventually rupture, resulting in a large, painful open sore, which may remain in the genitalia for weeks or months. Any contact with these sores may result in infection.

Chancroid can be treated with certain antibiotics, and sores can be expected to heal within two weeks.

To lower risk of receiving Chancroid, or any STI, it is suggested that sexually active people:
* Limit the number of your sex partners.
* Use a condom.
* Carefully wash the genitals after sexual relations.
* If you think you are infected, avoid any sexual contact and visit your local STD clinic, a hospital or your doctor. Notify all sexual contacts immediately so they can obtain examination and treatment.
